At least I had a good weekend

I never officially said that Billy got a new job, did I? While working at Marketstar he helped an HP Reseller A LOT! with support related questions, configurations, and anything else they needed. Wasatch Software really liked Billy and he really enjoyed helping them. About a month before Billy got laid off, he was offered a job to work with Wasatch Software, but that wasnt for a few months. Once he was laid off, he took  them on that offered and asked if it was possible to make those changes now.

He has now been working with them for 3 months and I have the feeling that he really really loves it there. Which makes me very happy.

When he was hired, they started planning a company retreat in Mesquite. Last weekend we finally went to this company trip. It was so fun! Why they decided to go to Mesquite in the middle of July is beyond me. So, I'm glad we spent the majority of time inside with the nice air conditioner.

On Saturday we had a lil company bonding experience: GAMBLING. Lol. Each pair (WS employee and their guest) was given $100 to gamble for an hour. After an hour, we would all double it or nothing and then the winner would receive a Gift Certificate to anywhere in the CasaBlanca Hotel. Billy and I played craps for the first time ever and we did really good. I really believe that we double our money and even tripled it. Unfortunately, we didnt have a chance to count it before we doubled or nothing. We all put our bets on Roulette. Billy and I bet on red and everyone else put their bet on black. There was so many emotions going through my head. I really really wanted to win... but so did everyone else! lol

The ball finally landed ... on ... GREEN! Can you believe that?! We found out that the odds of landing on green is one million to one. And the pay out is 30 to 1! Can you imagine that? We could have walked away with like $6000! Ahhhhh I would have been in heaven for a few months lol Anywho, that wasnt the case. We lost everything!! I was so shocked, so speechless, and so discouraged. I was so hoping to win the Gift Certificate and we deserved it since we had the most at the end of the hour.

The tie breaker would be high card. All the pair who didnt blow their money before the hour were eligible to pick a card from the deck. and the highest number would win the Gift Certifcate.

Yup. WE WON!! With a King. Hip hip hooray!  I was quite excited. I actually screamed when I saw our card! hehe The pair next to us had a Queen and so I was a lil nervous for a sec. But that shortly passed!! Woot woot! We won! We walked on over to the spa and signed up for pedicures (Poor Billy, it was the only thing available for both of us). Surprisingly Billy enjoyed his pedicure. He said he wished he had gotten more outta the massage chair but it was still nice to get his feet all cleaned up. And no, he didnt get them painted. That jerk!! I even offered him hot pink lol. I wish I would have gotten French Pedicure, but I thought they would charge me more for it. Oh wells. Maybe next time ;)

Now do you member those 3 pounds I had lost in the last month???  Ya I gained them all back this week. Boooooo! I still got 2 more months to go til my birthday, so I really need to get crackin on it. I am making a goal to exercise at least 3 times a week. WISH ME LUCK!

Shahnaz Moezzi

Oh boy, do I got a story for you!

The other day while I was I trying to figure out what classes I should take next semester, I got a lil distracted :) I started looking through the U directory. I found a few close friends and then I thought, SHAHNAZ!!

I dunno if I told you but I was born at the UofU hospital. And the nurse that took really good care of me was named Shahnaz. So my momma named me after her, of course!

People always ask me if I ever met another Shahnaz. Yes, I have, but I was 6. So I have really really been wanting to visit my nurse.

Lo and behold, I found her on the U directory!! I instantly text my momma to confirm it was her and I sent her an email!!

I EMAILED HER.


I EMAILED HER!!

She replied back shortly and said she also wants to see me again and my padres.


I'm kinda excited :)

Two Week Notice

So I have literally been looking for a job since October 2009. 9 MONTHS! I should have jus gotten pregnant and then went on maternity leave, FOREVER! lol This poor economy was definitely making it hard to find something, let alone be interviewed. 

I finally got the motivation to apply for more jobs, once Billy was laid off. Why keep working here if Billy wasnt here and couldnt come visit me? Plus, a good friend provided me with jobs.utah.gov. What a great site! I was applying for like 8-10 jobs a week. Then every two days, I would send a follow up email "has this position been filled?"

It wasnt until June 14 that I finally heard something back from Utah Community Reinvestment Corp (UCRC). I went that Thursday for an interview. Pretty sure it was a 2 hour interview. I felt really good. She had complimented on how great my resume was (thanks mom!) and so gave me a chance to interview. She seems very interested in me. And she had asked me to write a couple of paragraphs as to why I would be a good candidate. I had a really good feeling about it.

Then after two weeks, with numerous follow ups, I hadnt heard ANYTHING. I became a little discouraged and started applying for more jobs. But secretly, I didnt want to give up on this great opportunity. I called once more and spoke to the receptionist, whom informed me that the Administrative Assistant position was still available. YAY!!!! I couldnt contain the excitement. I still had a chance.

Finally, I was called back the weekend of July 4th and was offered a second interview. I was one of the Top 3 candidates and would meet with "The Boss." I arrived 5 minutes early and was asked if I wanted to see the current project they were working on. SURE! Then I was interviewed. I felt good about this interview but still a little antsy. I wasnt sure if they were all too thrilled that I was going to school. . .

After a long long week, I was offered the job. I quickly scanned the offer letter with Billy and found that it was a GREAT deal and accepted.

Can I jus say how exhilarating it was to give my two weeks to my supervisor? It was quite empowering!

YAY!!

Oh... Hello!

Oh gosh, it has been a while since I last blogged. I have been quite the slogger (haha Love Actually says its a mix between slacker and blogger. Love it!). Not only am I a slacker, but I jus havent been in the mood to blog. I felt like I didnt really have anything to say and that my posts are always the same boring ol' thing, and I really do not like my layout so I have been staying away from it. I know. I'm horrible. But I know some of you are sick of seeing that rooster, so I decided to post a lil update on my life.

First of all, school is going good. I just have one more month of this semester. Can you believe it?! I sure cant!! It seems like it flew by. I feel like I will pass my classes. Child Development is a lil challenging but that's because psychology isnt always black and white; but as long as I pass with a C, I'll be happy. Ha! I should be striving for an A. Meh, that'll be next semester ;)

Speaking of next semester, I am still debating if I should go full time or not. I have spoken to a lot of people who work full time and go to school full time and yes, they are overwhelmed and stressful, but they do it. And, they pass their classes with flying colors! So I'm considering it. I function better when I'm busy and multi-tasking and under pressure. And plus going full time will allow me to get done faster AND it's cheaper. But I will definitely have NO life. I know that was something that would happen. School is a sacrifice and supposedly its all worth it in the end ;) But then again, sanity is also important, no? Billy doesnt think going full time is a good idea. But i dont think he fully understands how different this time around is. I want this. I know what I have to do to get it. And, I understand the sacrifices. but I shall keep yall posted.

Ok, now the good news. I also stopped blogging because I didnt feel like I was making any progress in the McFatty department. I was losing pounds, but then gaining it all back. So I made a deal with Billy- For 3 months, starting June 17, I would get $10 for every pound that I lost. Then on my birthday (September 17, for those of you who forgot), I would go shopping for NEW CLOTHES!! I feel like this is some good motivation. In fact, so far I have lost 3 pounds :D I have been focusing on portions to control what I eat. I spent a week writing everything down, so I think I will do that again. I have been eating a lot of fruit, so trying to get in the habit of eating more vegetables. Its definitely a work in progress. I should be drinking like 64oz of water every day. Lets jus say that some days are really good, some are ok, and some not so good. Oh, and I'm trying to exercise. I'm so out of shape that I get discouraged, but I doing it. So, for the most part, I feel like I'm doing good. I did have a bad week. But we dont speak about it ;)
